Here comes the update for M&A activity in April 2026 - a bit delayed due to my stay at Acadian Ventures Summit in sunny San Diego. Whilst the discussions in WorkTech and B2B SaaS continues to focus on the impact of AI on the SaaS business model and B2B SaaS valuations in general, this does not put M&A to a hold but actually speeds up consolidation and in several areas at the moment.
A dominant theme across deals worth flagging are the continued build-up of - oftentimes also PE-backed - platforms with AI-native add-ons. These result in a strong combination of existing customer and market access from platforms (still hard to crack for AI-first startups) with more advanced AI product capabilities from early-stage ventures (often also hard to do in existing platform cultures).
Here is the summary for what happened in April 2026:
𝐇𝐑𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
📝 Fortino Capital (🇧🇪) acquired Shiftbase (🇳🇱), a leading European workforce management software provider for shift-based businesses. Fortino joins as majority investor to support the next phase of Shiftbase’s growth: Further developing its platform and strengthening its position across Europe. The founders will remain actively involved in new roles, with Kars Frijters stepping up as CEO and Jurrien Strobel taking on the role of CRO: https://www.shiftbase.com/blog/shiftbase-partners-with-fortino-capital
📝 Docebo (🇨🇦) acquired Zive (🇩🇪), an Enterprise AI knowledge platform. With Docebo AgentHub and all the improvements to Docebo AI, Docebo is now connecting to a broad fabric of how enterprises operate so knowledge reaches people where they already are. Knowledge inside an enterprise is scattered across Confluence, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, ticketing systems, CRM, and dozens of other tools. Learning has historically lived in a separate silo, disconnected from the knowledge people actually rely on to do their jobs. Enterprise Knowledge is now supposed to close that gap: https://www.docebo.com/learning-network/blog/inspire-2026-announcements/
📝 Quickbase (🇺🇸) acquired Solvice (🇧🇪), a provider of APIs for route optimization and workforce scheduling. The acquisition will strengthen Quickbase’s native capabilities with decision intelligence for advanced routing, scheduling, and planning across field service, logistics, and enterprise operations. Solvice is known for its OnRoute API for constraint-based vehicle routing and OnShift API for automated workforce scheduling and shift generation. These advanced algorithms make it possible for organizations to generate workforce schedules that account for real-world constraints and automatically re-optimize routes when disruptions occur: https://www.quickbase.com/news/press-releases/quickbase-acquires-solvice
📝 Silae (🇫🇷) acquired Kanoon (🇫🇷), a platform specializing in the automated generation of HR legal documents. This acquisition was made from LegalPlace, a leading French business creation platform. With this transaction, Silae enters the Legaltech sector and establishes itself as the comprehensive partner for payroll and HR professionals: https://www.silae.fr/presse/silae-legaltech-rh-acquisition-kanoon/
📝 LumApps (🇫🇷) backed by Bridgepoint Group acquired Comeen (🇫🇷), a workplace experience platform specializing in space management, digital signage and visitor services. This acquisition is a pivotal step in LumApps’ vision to create a platform where work comes together – bringing communication, knowledge and workflows and now physical workplace services into a single, unified experience. The transaction marks a natural evolution of a long-standing partnership, reflecting a broader strategy where ecosystem collaborations drive core platform innovation. By bridging the gap between digital and physical environments, LumApps is embedding workplace management directly into the daily flow of work: https://comeen.com/comeen-lumapps-acquisition
📝 Learning Pool (🇬🇧) backed by Marlin Equity Partners acquired WorkStep (🇺🇸), an AI-powered employee engagement platform specifically designed for the frontline workforce. This acquisition builds on the momentum of Learning Pool’s recent acquisitions of WorkRamp, an AI-first learning management system (LMS) for high-performing teams, and Elucidat, an innovative cloud-based authoring platform. These strategic moves underscore Learning Pool’s commitment to equipping frontline enterprises and scale-up businesses with precision training and performance solutions that accelerate speed-to-productivity and optimize bottom-line performance: https://learningpool.com/blog/workstep-joins-the-learning-pool-team
📝 Remote (🇺🇸) acquired Bravas (🇫🇷), a French software company specializing in identity and device management. The acquisition will bring best-in-class identity and device management to the Remote platform, extending Remote's vision of a single system that manages the full employee lifecycle for teams operating anywhere in the world. The acquisition readies Remote customers for the workforce of today and also tomorrow. As AI agents and automated workflows take on a larger role in how companies operate, the identity layer that governs access becomes more critical and complex: https://remote.com/news/remote-expands-its-global-employment-infrastructure-with-acquisition-of-bravas

The aurio team has joined Personio’s Product, Engineering and Design teams. Aurio brings agentic experience across core recruiting workflows: candidate sourcing and screening. Personio expects initial customer launches related to the aurio integration later this year: https://www.personio.com/about-personio/press/personio-profitability-acquisition-aurio/
