🚀 September 2026 | WorkTech Funding Highlights 🌍

After a quiet August, September brought the momentum back that I had expected: HiBob kicked the month off, and European activity was headlined by a true mega-round, Wonderful's $550M Series C at a $5B valuation for its AI operating system for the enterprise.

The UK led on the larger rounds with two agentic recruiting plays, Metaview ($60M Series C) and Jack & Jill ($40M Series A), while Germany delivered the highest number of deals, with Integral, mika and Ahron. A clear new pattern this month: AI-native companies no longer sell software to tax advisors and payroll bureaus, they replace the service itself, combining AI agents with licensed professionals.

The second theme is the control layer: orchestration and governance platforms that sit on top of the existing HR and IT landscape so that AI agents can act safely across systems (Ahron, 50skills, VizCo). Recruiting remains the most crowded AI battleground, and employee benefits saw fresh capital with Olenbee's open-banking approach to meal vouchers and Thatch's next funding in the US.

Here are the details for September 2026:

⬇𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

💵 Wonderful (🇳🇱) raised a $550M Series C at a $5B valuation, led by Insight Partners with participation from Salesforce and existing investors Index Ventures, IVP, Vine Ventures, 9Yards Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. Founded only in 2025, the Amsterdam-headquartered company has grown to 650 employees in more than 35 markets since its Series B in March. Its AI OS coordinates agents, workflows and AI-native applications across the enterprise, including productivity agents that work alongside employees. The capital will go into product development and larger global deployment teams: https://www.wonderful.ai/blog-articles/wonderful-raises-550m-series-c

💵 Metaview (🇬🇧) raised a $60M Series C led by Insight Partners, with GV (Google Ventures), Intrepid Growth Partners, Seedcamp, Vertex Ventures, Plural and Garuda Ventures participating, only a year after its last round and bringing total funding to $110M. Having captured more than 6 million interviews, Metaview now runs connected AI agents for sourcing, application review, screening and interview notes for 7,000+ companies. The funds will bring its autonomous recruiting coworker fillmore to general availability, grow the team from 80 to 250 people and open a New York office: https://www.finsmes.com/2026/09/metaview-raises-60m-in-series-c-funding.html

💵 Jack & Jill (🇬🇧) raised a £30M ($40M) Series A led by Air Street Capital, with Madrona and Antler joining and existing investors including Creandum, Ada Ventures, Entrepreneurs First, Expedite Capital and Repeat.vc following on, ten months after its $20M Seed. Two AI agents sit on either side of the hiring table: Jack coaches job seekers through voice conversations, Jill represents employers. Its candidate network has grown tenfold to 350,000 professionals, and Jill has already worked with 5,000 companies: https://www.eu-startups.com/2026/09/london-based-jack-jill-raises-e34-68-million-series-a-to-scale-its-ai-agents-for-jobseekers-and-employers

💵 Spott (🇧🇪) raised a $21M Series A at a $100M+ valuation, led by Balderton with existing investors Base10 Partners, Y Combinator and Fortino joining again, bringing total funding to $24.2M after a $3.2M Seed in March 2025. The Leuven-based company is rebuilding the ATS and CRM that recruitment agencies run on as one AI-native platform, capturing emails, calls and CVs so candidate knowledge no longer sits in inboxes or recruiters' heads. More than 500 agencies in 30+ countries now use Spott, revenue is up more than tenfold this year, and some customers report up to 30% more placements. Most of the round goes into engineering, proactive AI agents and international expansion, with new offices in New York and Sydney: https://spott.io/series-a

💵 Integral (🇩🇪) raised an €18M Series A co-led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman, with existing investors Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst and Puzzle Ventures joining again, taking total funding beyond €30M. Rather than selling software to tax advisors, Integral delivers accounting, tax and payroll services to SMEs itself: AI agents prepare the work and licensed professionals at its affiliated firm Integral Tax sign it off. Those professionals have doubled the number of clients they can serve since the start of 2026. The money goes into hiring AI engineers, licensed professionals and commercial staff: https://tech.eu/2026/09/16/integral-lands-eur18m-series-a-for-ai-native-accounting-and-tax-services/

💵 Olenbee (🇫🇷) raised €7M, of which €6.46M in equity and €0.54M in debt, from GO CAPITAL, Bpifrance, the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and business angel networks including Val de France Angels and All'n Breizh. The Rouen-based benefits tech uses open banking and AI to make meal vouchers work without a dedicated card: employees pay with their own bank card and eligible spend is refunded automatically. Olenbee aims to grow from 6,000 to 80,000 beneficiaries by early 2027 and to extend the model to cashback, culture and mobility benefits: https://www.gocapital.fr/olenbee-leve-7me-pour-redonner-aux-francais-le-pouvoir-sur-largent-qui-leur-est-du/

💵 mika AI (🇩🇪) raised a €6M Seed led by Smedvig Ventures, with family office Wecken & Cie. - Care4 AG, angels including studiVZ co-founders Dennis Bemmann and Michael Brehm, and existing investors Keen Venture Partners and Dutch Founders Fund increasing their stakes. mika is building an AI-native alternative to the traditional tax firm for small GmbHs and UGs, covering bookkeeping, VAT returns, annual accounts and tax filings on its own AI-native general ledger. It now serves more than 750 companies, up from around 400 at the start of the year, and passed €1M in revenue in July: https://getmika.de/en/press/seed-funding-6m

💵 50skills (🇮🇸) raised €5.3M ($6M) co-led by Frumtak Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures, Avant and US family office DRD Investments. The Reykjavík-based company positions itself as the operating system for people workflows, with its ATS Hire and Journeys for onboarding, contracts, approvals and background checks. More than four million actions ran on the platform over the past year, for customers such as Icelandair, Blue Lagoon, Domino's and Securitas. The round funds sales, marketing and community hiring plus new AI agents working alongside HR teams: https://www.eu-startups.com/2026/09/reykjavik-based-50skills-raises-e5-3-million-to-scale-its-ai-powered-hr-workflow-automation-platform

💵 Ed.ai (🇫🇷) raised a €5M Seed led by Bpifrance Digital Venture joined by La Poste Ventures and 50 Partners, plus existing investors AFI Ventures, CentraleSupélec Venture, Ring Capital and Super Capital. Ed.ai gives math teachers an AI assistant for grading and remediation that cuts the time spent on correcting student work in half, and is already used in more than 500 schools in France. The funds will double the team, support expansion in Europe and the US and prepare the move into higher education: https://www.maddyness.com/2026/09/10/ed-ai-leve-5-millions-deuros-pour-aider-les-enseignants-a-mieux-tirer-profit-des-copies-de-leurs-eleves-avec-lia/

💵 Swoep.AI (🇳🇱) raised €3M at a €20M valuation, selling 15% of its IP holding to investors with backgrounds in logistics, manufacturing and retail. After four years of building, Swoep positions itself as the AI brain layer across an organization: it connects every system a company runs on, so teams get insights and take action without switching tools, and can build their own automations and apps inside the platform. It runs at large corporates and SMEs alike and reports that every client onboarded so far has stayed. The capital funds further European expansion, a second office at the new Amsterdam AI hub The Stack, and a first step toward Silicon Valley: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7509246862869164033/

💵 Ahron (🇩🇪) raised €2.2M led by Cusp Capital, with superangels 😇 and HR business angels including Sabine Kohleisen and WorkTech Angels. Founded late last year, the Munich startup adds an orchestration and governance layer on top of existing HR systems, using Celonis process intelligence to map HR processes and give AI agents the context and guardrails to run them across systems. Ahron reports more than €1M ARR in its first fiscal year, with customers in Europe and the US, and will invest in its control layer and international expansion: https://www.vc-magazin.de/blog/2026/10/01/ahron-finanzierungsrunde-22-mio-euro-fuer-hr-ki-start-up/

💵 VizCo (🇮🇪) closed an oversubscribed €1.75M pre-seed with Entrepreneur First, Transpose Platforms, Next Gen Ventures, a customer and an angel SPV. VizCo lets staff in regulated organisations use tools like ChatGPT safely: it checks each request against company policy, removes sensitive data before it reaches the model and restores it in the response: https://www.businesspost.ie/tech/an-irish-startup-making-it-safe-for-staff-to-use-ai-at-work-has-just-raised-e1-75m/

There was also a £0.66M post-IPO equity round by @XCE (🇬🇧), as well as debt financing from Sage (🇬🇧) with €500M and Bird (🇳🇱) with $450M.
